We bought a suit for my husband for our daughters wedding. Wedding was cancelled, suit was never worn, all tags still attached.

Took the suit back to express, paid 298.00, I had the original receipt but since I was several days past the 90 days they were only willing to give me 110.00 in store purchase, not store credit, not gift card, I had to exchange right then and there. I talked to a lead in ohio and she was unwilling to help, she just kept repeating their policy. Beware if you purchase items from express, they are cheaply made to begin with, not worth the full price and when you try to return pass 3 months, they are going to reduce it substantially. I told the home office I would keep the suit before I let them have it back and take such a beating in the loss of what I originally spent on the suit.

What jerks.

I will NEVER shop their EVER.

Monetary Loss: $298.

Location: Dallas, Texas

They have a policy.. even if their policy was no returns after 20 minutes of ownership, that's their policy.

The rep shouldn't have been rude but the rep didn't write the rules.

Try to be positive about the situation. Either take the monetary loss it keep the suit!

My return was 60 days. I had the receipt but it had gotten wet and was unreadable.

It was also on my charge card, but rude employee refused to look it up. I was willing to get a store credit, but they would not do it. They have an exchange only policy and had to exchange for an item of the same value. I could not find anything that day and was rushed.

I had to keep the pants that did not fit. In addition to their rude customer service and lousy return policy, the quality of their merchandise has gotten cheap.

Be aware if you buy do not lose the receipt. I will start to staple it to the tag.

And the staff sucks! Nobody has any customer service skills whatsoever!!!

This use to be my fav place to shop.. not anymore!

And you...you're seriously saying saying you think Express is full of **** because you can't fit your *** in their suits. Everyone needs to get over themselves....

Guest

You're ridiculous. If you read the return policy (which every store has), you would see it's clearly outlined for you.

At least they were willing to give you something...its people like you that think you're special and your the exception to the rules, or that rules don't apply to you at all. I'm sorry you didn't get off your *** to return your suit for THREE MONTHS and then expect everything.

I'm pretty sure if I'd spent that much on a suit and was unsure about it, I'd be paying close attention to the return policy. Stop blaming folks because you're mad at yourself for not paying attention.

You're seriously outraged at a 90 day return policy? Seriously?

This is why people who work retail are so *** miserable. Being an ex-employee of the brand, I can tell you that they are VERY lenient on their return policy even up to the point where it would cause concern on the company because they would allow returns without receipts for credit not knowing if the item was stolen or old. Many retail shops that I shop at don't offer a return policy like express has. Take forever 21 for example, they don't do any kind of refund beyond store credit and that's that.

Store policies are put into effect for a reason mainly being that the merchandise value decreases due to sales and style changes. What people who shop don't understand, is that it's a business, much like any other business and when you engage in a transaction you are engaging in the whole sale and that include the stores policy. If you were unsure of your purchase, you should have inquired about the return policy and what exactly it would entail if it was being returned at a later date...since that is what any smart consumer would do. Your lack of common sense and sense of entitlement is astounding to me and especially because something was on YOUR ERROR you go and try to slander the company online so future buyers will read your post and not want to buy.

That is completely ludicrous. You as a buyer should have been more aware of what their policy was before you made the purchase and engaged in a full on transaction. Every store has policies, if you don't want to follow them or feel like you should be given "special treatment" because it was returned at a later date than the policy states, then you really have shouldn't shop retail in general. All rules are put into place because someone at some point abused a more lenient policy.

Instead of bashing the company, maybe you should have been more appreciative that they were even willing to give you some money back.

I can't tell you how many times I was told by many other retailers after trying to return past return policy dates that "it is what it is" and that I had to accept the loss. Stop trying to slander a business that actually does go up and beyond to help customers because you didn't get your way.

I agree. Well said. The loser who complained is just an entitled ***

She got it for a wedding that wedding that never happened, she didn't wait too long...I think these stores are full of their own *** anyway. Especially Express.

I have to wear a suit from them for a wedding. I'm 6'2'' and weigh 230 lbs. I usually shop at Men's Warehouse because I need to be measured.

Of course, everything from express isn't meant for tall and bigger guys. They're awful.

My complaint is a bit different. I placed two orders on their website within a two month period.

For whatever reason, I didn't get neither of the orders. Their were very accommodating and replaced my first order, but would not do anything about the second order because of their "COMPANY POLICY". I am beyond frustrated and furious. Spoke with their customer service, filed a complaint on BBB, and spoke to with customer relation ppl at the corporate office.

Still will not give me a refund of $98.15 for the second order.

I basically paid $98.15 for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I've been shopping at their stores for over 10 years and this is the kind of customer service they provide for their consumers.

BUYERS BEWARE!!!

A reputable brand has nothing to worry about their merchandise. Look at LandsEnd return policy;

"return it whenever for refund or exchange".

http://www.landsend.com/aboutus/values/guaranteed-period/

A brand that knows the item will fail after 2 weeks will give you a two week warranty. A brand that knows it will last for 90 days that's what it will give you.

I prefer not to buy at stores that are too stiff with their commitment to stand behind their merchandise.

It tells me make a different choice. Smart move on your part for staying away from that brand.

Agreed! Everyone knows their product is cheap and way over priced.

I'm never shopping there again they have a terrible return policy. They even have tags that say do not remove from clothing if you want to return? What the heck is that?! So what if I wore something for the first time and it started to fall apart?

Which has happened by the way!

I never attempted to return because is wasn't worth my time and energy to possibly have this back and forth argument about me removing tags for something I wore once days within the purchase. The product they're selling isn't worth your hard earned money.

90 days is plenty of time. This is on you. Honestly, it sounds like you actually lucked out with a manager or employee that was at least willing to throw you a bone with the $110 offer.

Wow really? For something that wasn't even worn.

Look at Macy's return policy and then say something.

You actually like their stuff? The quality is poor how do overlook that?

Guest

That's a very generous return policy honestly, and there are plenty of stores that will only give an item at the current price at that point. If they're poorly made for the price you could have easily gotten a suit from kohls or something for a fraction of the cost (and it you think the quality of their clothing is equal the joke is only on you).

Guest

Clearly you were passed the 90 day return window.if you would have read the back of the receipt you would have known that. Express actually offers one of the longest return policies. I went to dillards and had 2 weeks to do a return.

Look at Macy's and nordstroms return policy. Everyone knows Express is a joke, their product is poor and for some reason the company feels the need to capitalize on this terrible fabric that they probably only paid a few dollars for, if that.

I'm not supporting that philosophy of theirs. I'm not giving them any business unless they lower their prices to match the quality that they're putting out.
